20AThe USB line is organised by what a wall outlet has to feed, not by port count. The first tier is 5V charging: 2.4A per port with 3.6A shared across the device, in dual USB-A, USB-A + USB-C and dual USB-C layouts. The second tier adds Power Delivery — 20W, 36W and 65W models on the same 15A/20A face. The third tier is the 5.0A high-output group, where two ports share 5V 5.0A for buyers who need total output rather than a fast-charge protocol.
The choice inside a tier is usually a port-layout question. USB-A is still what most hotel and office hardware is fitted with; USB-C is what the 2026 specification language asks for; a mixed A + C face hedges both and is the model we ship most when a buyer is replacing a fleet in stages.
Nothing in this line is a GFCI. Where the code also requires ground-fault protection at the device, the combination you want sits in the GFCI Outlets line, where the USB charging is built into the Class A self-test body instead.

| 5V tier | 2.4A per port, 3.6A shared — or 5V 5.0A total on the high-output models |
| Fast-charge tier | USB-C Power Delivery 20W / 36W / 65W, with USB-A Quick Charge 18W on the mixed faces |
| Shutters | Tamper-resistant on every model |
| Wiring | Back wire and side wire · self-grounding clip on the high-output models |
| Wall plate | Included with the device |
| Applications as published | Indoor dry locations; the 20A models are also published for indoor dry commercial locations |

The output number on a USB outlet is the easiest thing to over-buy. These are the five configurations buyers actually specify, and what each one is really for.
| What the project is | What to put on the PO | Why buyers get this wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel guest rooms replacing older nightstand charging | Dual USB-A, 2.4A per port (3.6A shared) — SXUT1536 / SXUT2036 family | Bids get written around fast charging the property does not need, and the extra cost per room multiplies by key count. |
| Offices, desks and conference tables | USB-A + USB-C 2.4A — SMUT1536C / SMUT2036C | The fleet is mixed: laptops on C, headsets and desk phones on A. An all-C face strands the older hardware. |
| Schools, libraries, student housing | Dual USB-C, 20W PD — SMUT15PD20C / SMUT20PD20C | Chromebook and tablet charging is the real load, and shared 2.4A ports are what makes a charging bank feel slow. |
| Healthcare waiting areas and staff stations | USB-A + USB-C, 36W — SMUT15PD36 / SMUT20PD36 | Fast charging without a laptop-class premium. What goes wrong is the wall box: check depth before the order, not after. |
| Workstations where the laptop is the load | USB-C 65W PD — SMUT15PD65C / SMUT20PD65C | Buyers price a docking brick instead. A 65W face removes the brick from the desk, which is the whole point of the line. |
USB charging moved from a hospitality amenity to a line item in office, education and multifamily specifications. These are the settings the line is bought for.
A charging receptacle is quoted with its own documentation package: the specification sheet for that model, the listing reference it actually holds, and the packing detail the DC needs. We would rather send four documents than a line-level certificate that does not name your model.
Where a submittal needs a specific listing we state only what the model holds. If your specification names a standard that a model in this line does not carry, we will say so before the PO instead of after the inspection.
Send the device schedule with the room types and the port layout you want. We will return the model list by room, the output per model, and the plate and box detail for each line — one document for the electrical contractor and the owner to mark up.
Send a device schedule →Both figures are published and they are not the same thing. Most models state 2.4A per port with a shared ceiling of 3.6A across the device, and the high-output group states 5V 5.0A total. The 20W, 36W and 65W models state a combined output for the device, which is why the per-model specification sheet matters more than the family name.
Yes — mixed orders are the normal case. They ship as separate line items and separate cartons because they are different devices, but they can share the pallet, the container and the paperwork. Send the room-by-room breakdown and we will tell you whether the mix loads sensibly.
The published data for this line does not include it. If the location needs GFCI protection at the device, order the combination models from the GFCI Outlets line, where the charging sits inside a Class A self-test body.
Depth is confirmed per model at quote stage, and the fast-charge models are the ones worth checking first. Tell us the box type you are installing into and we will confirm the fit rather than leave it to installation.
Yes, the plate is part of the device line item for this range. A decorator-style opening is needed for these faces, and if your project standard is a mid-size or jumbo plate, that is a separate line you can add to the same order.
Production runs 25–35 days from PO depending on the mix and the colour confirmation; samples are around five working days. Colour confirmation and packaging artwork approval are the two variables that move a date, so both are worth closing before the PO.
Tick any models in the comparison tool and only the differences get highlighted — amperage, port layout, per-port and shared output, tamper resistance. Then send the shortlist as one RFQ.
Model list, quantities and project type is all we need to start. The quotation comes back in one business day with the specification sheet for each line item, the listing reference it holds and the packing detail for the DC — one document, not four.
