Find the equivalent by specification, not by brand

We do not publish a brand-to-brand cross-reference table, because a part number alone does not tell you which markings, ratings and listing scope you are substituting. What we do instead: match on the specification, and confirm the equivalent in writing.

How matching works

Four steps from someone else's part number to a quotable model

The first three you can do on this page. The fourth is the one worth having in writing before you substitute anything on a schedule.

Match the electrical facts

Amperage, voltage and NEMA configuration first — a 15A TR device is not a substitute for a 20A circuit, whatever the face looks like.

Match the construction

Tamper-resistant, weather-resistant and self-test are construction requirements, not marketing labels. Filter on them rather than assuming.

Match the function

USB output and port layout, plate opening, pole count on switches. This is where most substitutions quietly change the deliverable.

Confirm in writing

Send us the competitor part number and the application. We reply with the model we would supply, the standard it is listed to, and the differences you should be aware of.

Why no brand table

What a cross-reference table leaves out

A table that maps one part number to another looks authoritative and answers the wrong question.

Two devices can share an amperage and a NEMA configuration and still differ on trip level, self-test behaviour, terminal construction, marking authorisation and the standard they were tested to. A customer who substitutes on a part number alone discovers that at inspection.

There is also a moving target: competitor part numbers change with revisions and suffixes, and a table that is not maintained becomes a liability. We would rather answer the specific substitution, in writing, with the differences named.

  • Send the competitor part number, the application and the destination — a bathroom receptacle and a kitchen counter are different answers under the same code section.
  • We reply with our model, the listing standard it holds, and any difference that matters for the inspection.
  • If we cannot confirm an equivalent for that application, we say so instead of quoting the nearest-looking model.
Start here

Match the specification of the device you are replacing

Set the fields that actually decide an equivalent — amperage, NEMA configuration, construction and function. Every result links to its specification sheet.

Pick the specification of the device you are replacing — the fields that matter are amperage, NEMA configuration, construction and function. Nothing selected yet.

Before you send

What to include with a substitution request

One message with these five lines gets a usable answer on the first reply.

  • The competitor part number, or a photo of the device face and the carton label
  • The application location (bathroom, kitchen, garage, outdoor, commercial fit-out)
  • The quantity and the destination province or state
  • Whether the schedule requires TR, WR or self-test explicitly
  • Whether the plate, colour or finish has to match an existing installation

Send the list, get the package back

Model list, quantities and project type is all we need to start. The quotation comes back in one business day with the specification sheet for each line item, the listing reference it holds and the packing detail for the DC — one document, not four.
