Installation steps held for TM-3
Taken from the manufacturer installation data for this model. Local code editions still govern where the device may be used.
Turn off the breaker and confirm all switch boxes in the circuit are de-energized with a voltage tester or multimeter.
Verify that this switch box sits between the two 3-way switches. Do not use a 4-way switch as the first or last device in the switching circuit.
Before disconnecting the old device, label the two traveler wires coming from one 3-way switch and the two traveler wires going to the other 3-way switch.
Connect each traveler pair to the matched terminal pair shown on the 4-way switch body, then connect the bare copper or green grounding conductor to the green grounding terminal.
Fold wires neatly into the box, mount the switch, install the wallplate if required, restore power, and confirm that every switch location can turn the connected light or load on and off.
