When a box has to stay accessible but has no device in it — an abandoned circuit, a reserved or future-use opening, or a junction that must not be drywalled over. It is a safety closure, not a decorative cover, and the box should remain reachable after the plate is fitted.
Which size do I order — standard, mid-size or jumbo?
Standard is the default. Mid-size and jumbo exist for the case that usually starts the order in the first place: replacing a plate on an opening that already exists, where the larger plate is what covers the drywall, paint line and patch around it. Confirm the size on site before it becomes a second delivery.
