How is this plate fitted, and does it fit a GFCI?
It mounts with a single centre screw through two separate outlet openings, which is what a traditional duplex receptacle uses. A GFCI, USB outlet or decorator receptacle is a larger face and needs the decorator opening plate instead — this one will not cover it.
When is a blank plate the right part?
When a box has to stay accessible but has no device in it — an abandoned circuit, a reserved or future-use opening, or a junction that must not be drywalled over. It is a safety closure, not a decorative cover, and the box should remain reachable after the plate is fitted.
Which size do I order — standard, mid-size or jumbo?
Standard is the default. Mid-size and jumbo exist for the case that usually starts the order in the first place: replacing a plate on an opening that already exists, where the larger plate is what covers the drywall, paint line and patch around it.
